The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, has been honoured with the Maritime Leadership Excellence Award at the 8th Anniversary Celebration of New Experience Newspaper held in Lagos.

The event, which brought together key stakeholders from the maritime, aviation, transport, and media sectors, celebrated individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to national development through visionary leadership and service excellence.

Dr. Mobereola was recognized for his outstanding leadership in repositioning NIMASA, promoting maritime safety, and driving reforms aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s blue economy potential.

Presenting the award, the management of New Experience Newspaper described the NIMASA boss as a reform-minded administrator whose tenure has been marked by transparency, innovation, and strategic collaboration across the maritime sector.

According to the organisers, the Maritime Leadership Excellence Award was conferred on Dr. Mobereola in recognition of his unwavering dedication to improving Nigeria’s maritime safety architecture, strengthening international partnerships, and fostering a safer, more competitive maritime environment.

In his brief remark after receiving the award by the Deputy Director,Chief Security Officer of NIMASA,Dr.Jonathan Bature Musa , Dr. Mobereola expressed gratitude to the organisers for the recognition, dedicating the honour to the management and staff of NIMASA for their commitment to the Agency’s vision.

He reiterated the Agency’s determination to sustain ongoing reforms, enhance regulatory efficiency, and support the Federal Government’s drive to expand the nation’s blue economy through sustainable practices.

According to him, maritime administration requires teamwork, consistency, and adherence to global best practices — values that NIMASA continues to uphold in the discharge of its mandate.

Dr. Mobereola emphasized that the recognition would further motivate NIMASA to intensify efforts in capacity development, safety compliance, and strategic interventions that enhance Nigeria’s position as a maritime hub in Africa.

He also commended the New Experience Newspaper for its commitment to celebrating excellence and promoting ethical journalism that contributes to national growth.

The Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of New Experience Newspaper Prince Benson Davies noted that the anniversary celebration was designed to highlight notable achievements across various sectors, while encouraging institutions and individuals to continue promoting good governance and professional integrity.

Other award categories at the event included recognitions for innovation, leadership, and corporate social responsibility in the aviation, logistics, and media industries.

The ceremony attracted top government officials, industry captains, media executives, and members of the diplomatic corps who commended the publication for sustaining its journalistic integrity over the years.

Dr. Mobereola’s award, according to many in attendance, reflects his enduring impact on the Nigerian maritime sector and his commitment to building a globally competitive and secure maritime environment.

The New Experience Newspaper 8th Anniversary Celebration concluded with a call for stronger collaboration among government agencies, private operators, and the media in driving national development.
