The Kebbi State Police Command has successfully rescued two victims one week after they were kidnapped during operation carried out by security forces in Ribah district.

The victims, Tukur Bello M, 26, from Kembawa village in Augie LGA, and Isyaka Abubakar M, 25, from Budun village in Gummi LGA, Zamfara State, were abducted on 9th August 2025 around 2:00 pm while grazing their cattles in Gairi Forest, Zamfara State.

According to the Police Command, the rescue operation took place on 15th August at approximately 3:05 pm in Dankade village, Ribah district, Danko/Wasagu LGA.

The operation was carried out by a combined team of policemen, vigilantes, and hunters, under the leadership of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ribah.

During the operation, the security team engaged the bandits in a gun duel that lasted for several hours, demonstrating tactical precision and resilience.

The victims were successfully rescued unhurt and immediately taken to a nearby medical facility for a thorough check-up.

Following medical assessments, the two victims were reunited with their families, bringing relief to their loved ones and the broader community.

Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani, commended the DPO Ribah and his team for their determination, professionalism, and courage in confronting armed criminals.

The CP emphasized that such operations are crucial in the ongoing fight against banditry and other heinous crimes, which continue to threaten socio-economic development in the state.

He encouraged other divisional police officers across Kebbi State to emulate the Ribah team by carrying out aggressive patrols, especially along highways and bushy areas prone to criminal activities.

CP Bello also reassured the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property within Kebbi State.

CSP Nafiu Abubakar, Police Public Relations Officer, reiterated that proactive policing and community engagement remain central to the Command’s strategy in maintaining peace.

The rescue operation is part of a broader campaign by the Kebbi State Police Command to neutralize banditry networks and enhance public safety.

Security experts have praised the operation, highlighting the effective collaboration between police officers, local vigilantes, and community hunters in tackling criminal elements.

The successful rescue of the two victims is expected to boost public confidence in law enforcement and reinforce the message that the Police Command is determined to safeguard all residents of Kebbi State.
