The Methodist Church Nigeria, Archdiocese of Lagos, is set to host a landmark Apostolic Visit by His Eminence, Prelate Oliver Ali Aba, from Monday, 15 December to Sunday, 21 December 2025.

The visit, hailed as a historic moment for the Church in Lagos, promises to strengthen faith, fellowship, and strategic development within the Archdiocese.

Under the leadership of the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Lagos, Most Rev. Isaac Olawuyi, alongside his wife and the Archdiocesan Lay President, Sir Olusina Thorpe, the week-long visit has been meticulously planned to cover all corners of the Lagos Archdiocese.

During his stay, Prelate Aba, accompanied by his wife and official entourage, will tour six dioceses: Ikorodu, Oke-Eletu, Epe, Ereko, Badagry, and the Lagos Diocese. Each stop will feature a series of spiritual engagements, project inspections, and leadership interactions.

The Apostolic Visit is designed to foster unity and deepen the spiritual growth of church members. It will also serve as a platform to evaluate ongoing and completed projects, ensuring that the Church’s mission of service and outreach continues to thrive across Lagos State.

A key highlight of the visit will be strategic interactions with diocesan leaders, aimed at assessing progress and planning for the continued development of Methodism within the region. Courtesy visits, discussions on church growth, and mentorship sessions are expected to form a significant part of these engagements.

The Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Isaac Olawuyi, emphasized the importance of the visit, noting that it would strengthen fellowship among congregants and provide opportunities for reflection on the Archdiocese’s achievements and challenges.

Sir Olusina Thorpe, the Archdiocesan Lay President, described the Apostolic Visit as “a pivotal moment for unity, spiritual renewal, and purposeful leadership within the Methodist community in Lagos.”

Members of the Church and the public are invited to actively participate in the scheduled activities, which include prayer services, seminars, and project inaugurations across the six dioceses.

The Archdiocese highlighted that the visit would not only celebrate the growth of the Church but also encourage greater community involvement and commitment to Methodist values.

Prelate Aba’s visit is anticipated to be spiritually enriching, reinforcing the Church’s mission to spread the Gospel, deepen discipleship, and foster holistic development across Lagos.

The Archdiocese expressed excitement at the opportunity to host such a distinguished ecclesiastical leader, welcoming him and his delegation with open arms and warm hospitality.

Church officials underscored that the visit represents a rare opportunity for congregants to engage directly with the leadership of the Methodist Church Nigeria, strengthening bonds across the Archdiocese.

Throughout the week, the Prelate will provide guidance and encouragement to both clergy and laity, inspiring renewed dedication to service and ministry in their local communities.

The event also offers a platform for dialogue on best practices in church administration, spiritual mentorship, and community outreach, ensuring that the Archdiocese remains a beacon of faith and service.

As the countdown to the historic visit begins, the Archdiocese of Lagos is calling on all members to prepare for a spiritually uplifting and transformative week, celebrating the enduring legacy and future of Methodism in the region.
