‎Prof. Christopher Imumolen, former presidential candidate of the Accord Party and its National Chairman, has announced his withdrawal from the 2027 presidential race, declaring total support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
‎
‎In a statement released on Friday, Imumolen said the decision was taken “in consultation with the leadership of the party” and was driven by national interest rather than personal ambition.
‎
‎“I made the patriotic decision to withdraw from the presidential race and fully support the re-election of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the 2027 Presidential Election,” he stated.
‎
‎Prof. Imumolen listed 10 key reasons for his decision:
‎
‎1. Shared Vision for Nigeria– He said President Tinubu’s reform agenda aligns with his own manifesto on economic transformation, education, youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and industrialisation.
‎2. Exceptional Leadership Capacity – He described Tinubu’s resilience and ability to navigate Nigeria’s political and economic challenges as “uncommon courage and strategic leadership.”
‎3.  *Unmatched Political Sagacity– Imumolen noted Tinubu’s track record of producing transformational leaders and displaying foresight in nation-building.
‎4. Commitment to Progressive Governance – He cited the President’s focus on institutional reforms and continuity as critical for long-term stability.
‎5.  Ability to Discover and Empower Talent– The Accord leader praised Tinubu’s capacity to identify capable individuals and promote national unity.
‎6.  A Bridge Between Generations– He said Tinubu is positioned to link Nigeria’s founding democratic leaders with the next generation of transformational leaders.
‎7. Confidence in Economic Recovery– Despite current challenges, Imumolen expressed confidence that Tinubu’s fiscal discipline and policy direction will reposition the economy for sustainable growth.
‎8. Inclusive and Collaborative Leadership– He commended the President’s engagement across party lines as “true statesmanship.”
‎9. Nigeria Above Personal Ambition – “My aspiration has always been to serve Nigeria and not merely to occupy public office,” he said, adding that unity must come first.
‎10.Stability and Continuity – He argued that policy consistency and sustained reforms are essential to attract investment, create jobs, and build a prosperous Nigeria.
‎
‎Imumolen urged members of the Accord Party, his supporters, youth, professionals, and “all patriotic Nigerians” to rally behind the President’s re-election bid.
‎
‎“Our decision to withdraw our presidential candidature and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a deliberate sacrifice made in the interest of Nigeria. History will always remember those who placed national progress above personal ambition,” he said.
‎
‎He concluded with a prayer for the nation: “God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
‎
‎The endorsement adds to growing support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
‎
‎Prof. Christopher Imumolen served as Accord Party’s presidential candidate in the last election cycle.
