Residents of Ndiama community in Umumbiri, Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, were thrown into fear and confusion following a disturbing incident involving a middle-aged man, Mr. Chinedu Anozie, who allegedly chased his half-sisters with a machete.

According to the village eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred on Sunday 27th April, 2026 when Mr. Chinedu Anozie reportedly stormed the family compound in a fit of anger, brandishing a machete and threatening the lives of his half-sisters Oge and Nkeiru. Neighbors say the ladies narrowly escaped death as they fled for safety amid the chaos.

Sources within the community revealed that the conflict has been ongoing, with Mr. Chinedu allegedly subjected the two ladies to repeated harassment, intimidation, bullying and emotional abuse.

The tension, it was gathered, stems from deep-seated family issues, including claims that he resents their mother for not having a male child.
“This has been happening for a while,” a concerned neighbor disclosed. “He bullies them constantly and makes life unbearable for them. This time, it almost turned deadly.”
Community leaders and concerned residents have condemned the act, calling for immediate intervention to prevent further escalation. Some have urged local authorities and state security agencies to step in and ensure the safety of the victims.

Meanwhile, the affected ladies are said to be in hiding, fearing for their lives as tensions remain high in the area. The incident has sparked conversations around threat of killing, domestic violence, gender bias, and the urgent need for stronger community protection mechanisms.

As these two ladies who are yet unmarried, have been in the village in taking care of their sick father who had a stroke before he passed in, 2024.
It is a ‘Cry Out for Help’ as their half brother, Chinedu Anozie and his wife Mary Allegedly Threatens them on a daily basis.
The tension continues to mount in the Ndiama community, Umumbiri, while Chinedu allegedly persists in harassing and threatening his half-sisters, despite reports made to local authorities.

The ladies Oge and Nkeiru, who narrowly escaped an earlier attack on Sunday, 27th April, 2026 in which Chinedu reportedly chased them with a machete, are now calling on the Ahiazu Mbaise LGA Chairman, the Imo State Government, and other relevant authorities to urgently intervene and protect them from further harm or avoid being killed.

Speaking through concerned community members, the victims accused Mr. Chinedu and his wife Mary a mother of One of sustained bullying, intimidation, and violent threats, allegedly rooted in family tensions over their mother not having a male child.
“We are living in fear. Chinedu has vowed to kill us or make us homeless,” one of the victims, Nkeuri reportedly said. “We have nowhere else to go, and nobody seems to be stopping him.”

It was gathered that the matter has already been reported to local vigilante groups and the community leadership, including the village Aladimma. However, residents claim that Mr. Chinedu has remained defiant, allegedly continuing his threats and insisting on driving the ladies out of their father’s house.
Community members have expressed concern over the escalating situation, warning that failure to act swiftly could lead to serious consequences.

“This is no longer a family issue, it is a serious security concern,” a local resident stated. “Local Government Authority and Imo State government need to step in before lives are lost.”
The incident has further raised alarm over threat of life, domestic violence, gender discrimination, and the need for stronger enforcement of community justice systems to protect vulnerable individuals.
